I feel like Goldilocks!

Rickrack I still haven't been able to finish the Swell Moda U quilt for the shop sample.  I ran out of the first rick rack, even though I bought an extra yard.  I ordered a replacement from a different shop, hoping I would get it sooner than I got my first order.  Yes, I got it right away, but it was smaller, thinner, and too "pink."  So I went back to shop #1 and ended up ordering GIANT rick rack instead of jumbo.  Oh.My.Word.  I don't want the trim to overwhelm the quilt!  So I had to place a fourth order last night.  If this one is wrong, I think I may have to open a web site just to sell off my excess rick rack.  What do you think?   And yes, I am a former blonde.   ;-)

Websampler In other quilty news, I finally got all 12 Web Sampler blocks and also received a finishing kit from a different shop.  I am finally getting my "will to sew" back, and made 2 more blocks.  I'm still progressing at a snail's pace, but I *am* progressing!

I also finished all the churn dash blocks and cut out all the setting blocks for my Peppermint Twist quilt from the Jo Morton class I took last summer.  I am terrified of the applique, but poised to give it a shot.  Stay tuned.

Progress and some setbacks

I'm at the border stage of my Swell Moda U quilt for the shop sample.  Last night I was basting the red cotton rick rack I bought to the innner border and this morning when I picked it up to admire my handiwork, I realized I was going to run out of rick rack!  I am more than a little peeved, as I ordered an entire extra yard.   And now of course I must order another whole piece plus extra, in case it is a different dye lot.  Ugh.

I have made ZERO progress on our Web Sampler quilt.  I ordered the finishing kit on January 31 and paid with a credit card through Paypal.  The shop charged my card immediately but I did not get my kit.  3 weeks passed.   I was assured it was on its way "within a week."   2 more weeks passed, then 2 more.  I finally contacted the shop and asked for a refund.  My email went unanswered for 4 days until I filed a complaint with Paypal, and then I got an immediate response and credit.  I won't name the shop since I did get a resolution, but I am not pleased.  It has soured me on this web sampler business and I doubt I will ever again do a project like this from 12 different shops.  I'm really disappointed and have lost all my enthusiasm for this project.

Web Sampler update

SamplerblocksHere are my next 2 blocks in the Web Sampler project I am doing along with Perry, Cindy, Carol and Nicole. I'm sure my cohorts are going to leave me in the dust, but until I get my quilts ready for the show in just a couple weeks, this project will have to proceed at a snail's pace. I hope I will be able to step it up after our quilt show is over.

Web Sampler Celebration

Block1_2 Cindy had this bright idea about another group project, which I was reluctant to dive into after struggling to complete the last one.  But Web Sampler Celebration II was just too enticing to resist:  Order a 12" block kit from each of these 12 shops, pick your favorite finishing kit (or finish it up on your own) and the fun begins.  Cindy, Perry, Carol, Nicole and I are going to work on this together, with a planned finish/reveal date of June 2.  Here's my first block, which isn't a lot of progress, but considering the weekend I had, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself!

Please join us and make the sampler yourself, or check our blogs to follow the progress.
